BURLEY – William Isaac “Ike” Miller, 51 of Burley, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 18, 2016. He was a loving father and husband, who knew no strangers.
Ike was born on May 16, 1965, in Mapusaga, American Samoa; he was the sixth of nine children born to Roy Isaac Miller and Janet Sorensen. His family moved back to the United States when he was two years old, settling in Draper, Utah, and then moving on to Wendell, Idaho, where he spent most of his childhood. Growing up he was known as Bill, but during his early twenties he decided he would start going by his middle name, Isaac, which quickly became Ike in his professional and personal circles. As a young man he was full of personality and whit, which only grew as he matured. He was loved by all who knew him.
He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1983, and joined the United States Air National Guard. It was here where he learned that he was a good student and graduated at the top of his class. He served a full-time LDS mission in Las Vegas, Nevada. Educationally, he graduated from Boise State University with his undergraduate degree in marketing and then obtained a master’s degree at Utah State University in Human Resource Management. He was employed by Hewlett-Packard at the time of his passing. While in pursuit of his master’s degree at Utah State University, he met the love of his life, Heidi Lee Neiwert. They married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 5, 1995. They have four children, Logan, Samuel, Grace, and Reynolds “Ren”. Isaac was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his family. He was fiercely loyal and sincere. He enjoyed skiing with his children, camping and watching BSU football games.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. He loved working with the young men and has eternal relationships with many whom he served. He left a great impact on all who knew him. At the time of his death, he was serving as a high councilor in the Burley Stake. He had a deep testimony of his faith and lived it.
He is survived by his wife, Heidi Miller; his children, Logan, Samuel, Grace, and Ren Miller; sisters and brothers, Jeanene Renfroe, Connie Slade, Vicky Jenks, Ralph Miller, Christy Youd, Ida Petersen, Sandra Osburn, and David Merlin Miller; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, at the Burley Stake Center, 2050 Normal Avenue, in Burley, Idaho, with bishop Brent Greener officiating. Burial will follow in the Paul Cemetery with military honors provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.
Viewings will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and Monday from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. preceding the service at the church.
Friends, family and acquaintances of Ike are invited to write down memories that may be shared with his children.
