HEYBURN –Stetson Dwight Hollinger 34, passed away at his parents’ home in Heyburn, Idaho on Monday, August 22, 2022, from cirrhosis of the liver.
He was born January 18, 1988, in Burley, Idaho, to Dwight and Ana Hollinger. He grew up in Heyburn and attended Heyburn Elementary, West Minico and graduated from Minico High School in 2006.
He wasn’t interested in attending college, but he did try taking classes online, which he did not like either.
He worked for various employers throughout his life, but at the time of his death he was unemployed.
Stetson was always looking for adventure and wanted to be remembered as living life to the fullest.
He was the person who was always willing to take on a dare. Since becoming ill, many of his friends have shared stories with us about him. He was always known to be the life of the party. My sister Silvia wrote a beautiful obituary for Stetson, but his father and I decided to save it for his funeral. If you knew our son, you’d know all about him.
We would like to thank our family for being with us during the time that Stetson was home and under the care of hospice. A special thanks to the mother of his two oldest children, Brianna Lloyd, and his other special friend, Cassie Coltrin, for being his best friends. Thank you to all his family and friends who came to see him at the house during his final days.
Stetson was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Guadalupe Lara (Grandma Wela) Wilda Hollinger (Grandma); grandfathers, Pedro Gonzalez Sr, Lyle Hollinger, and the only grandpa he got to meet, Vitus Albrecht; his uncles, Bob Hollinger, Tio Pete, and Rodolfo Gonzalez; his cousin, PJ Gonzalez; and his brother-in-law, Darren Stelly.
He is survived by his parents, Dwight and Ana Hollinger; his sisters, Tamara Hollinger Forrest (Gregg), Stephanie Stelly (Darren); his beautiful children, Kaiden, Kaybree, Brixton and Bohdi; as well as his nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and so many cousins that reached out to him and loved him unconditionally.
Our son battled with alcohol addiction; as much as we prayed and lectured him, he just couldn’t stop. Before his passing he did try to stop but the withdrawal symptoms were just too much. This eventually caused him to get cirrhosis of liver. Our son always told his dad and I that we didn’t tell him enough times how proud we were of him. I want everyone who reads this to know that these past five weeks since being diagnosed with this disease, we were very proud of him. He fought to the bitter end and was such a good patient for all the hospital staff.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, with Pastor Travis Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Rupert Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, and from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral service.
