Sharon Louise Gant Smith passed away March 8, 2026 in Burley, Idaho. Sharon was born September 24, 1939 in Santa Maria, California to Frank John Gant and Katherine Marie Bouwhuis. Sharon had lived in Burley, Idaho for the past 10 years. When she was young her family left Santa Maria and bought a home in Hawthorne, California where she graduated from high school. Sharon married Jack Kent Burt in 1958. They were the parents of three daughters, C. Gwen Burt (Carlsbad, CA), Katherine Lynn (Roy) Humbard (Burley, ID) and Charlotte Kay (Mike) Smith (Woodlake, CA). As a family they lived in Orange County, California and Exeter, California. After her divorce from Kent, Sharon eventually moved to Utah living in Orem and Pleasant Grove. Sharon remarried in 1991 to Frank Wayne Smith. Together they served a couples mission for the church in Canada.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents and both her husbands as well as her sister Judith Renee Gant Meyer. She is survived by her brothers Douglas Jay Gant, Steven John Gant and her sister Vicki Ilene Gant Pemberton and her three daughters, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Sharon was an active member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her favorite calling was ward librarian. Sharon was an avid reader ad owned an extensive library. She had a great interest in anthropology and volunteered at BYU gluing pottery together found at digs. Sharon was assisted in her later years by her daughter Kathy and son-in-law Roy. The past 11 months she spent at Rosetta Memory Care Center in Burley, Idaho.
A graveside service will be held for Sharon at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2026 at Provo City Cemetery in Provo, Utah. Services are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
