HEYBURN – Rueben Weber, age 92, a lifelong Heyburn farmer and stockman, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Highland Estates in Burley, of causes incident to age.
Rueben was born to Anna Elizabeth Kell and Henry Weber Sr., on Oct. 29, 1921, in Paul, Idaho. He was the youngest of six children. At the age of seven, Rueben moved with his family to the farm in Heyburn, where he lived and farmed his whole life. Rueben attended elementary and middle school in Heyburn. He married Maxine May Croft on Nov. 15, 1941, in Rupert. They had two daughters, Tamara and Marilee. Toward the end of World War II, Rueben was drafted into the United States Army, but as he was a farmer, he was not required to serve outside the United States.
Rueben and Maxine purchased the home and farm from his parents. Rueben worked hard caring for the crops and livestock. He was very proud of his crops and the high quality beef that he raised. Rueben actively farmed until he was well into his 80s. Even when his body was no longer up to the rigors of farming, he maintained his interest in the crop and cattle markets. He was a member of the Ebenezer Congregational Church in Paul, the Rupert Elks, and the Paul Housing Authority Labor Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Maxine, in 2007; his daughter, Tamara and son-in-law, Warner Frost; a granddaughter, Suzanne Frost; a son-in-law, David Peterson; and his siblings, Molly Knopp, Henry Weber Jr., Katie Kerbs, and Mary Knopp.
Rueben is survived by his daughter, Marilee Peterson of Heyburn; four grandchildren, Kris Frost of Farmington, Utah, Eric (Kristi) Swanson of Boise, James (Michelle) Frost of Heyburn, and Aaron (Kellie) Swanson of Rupert; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Frost of Boise, Mikayla Frost of Heyburn, and Robie Swanson of Boise; one great-great-grandson, Luke Frost of Heyburn; and one sister, Bertha Kraus, who resides in California.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, with Ferril King officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.
Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Rasmussen Funeral Home.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Dr. Kevin Owens and to the staff of Highland Estates for the compassionate care given to Rueben.
