ALBION - Robert Franklin Price, 85, formerly of Albion, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at Alta Ridge Assisted Living in Sandy, Utah.
Bob was born on June 16, 1930, in Oakley, Idaho, to Frank Otha and Rose Arlene Winn Price. He grew up on the family cattle ranch near Albion, Idaho. In 1948, Bob graduated from Albion High School and two years later left Albion Normal College with a teaching certificate. Upon graduation, Bob moved to Salt Lake City and enrolled in telegrapher school. This was the beginning of a 37-year career as a railroader with the Union Pacific Railroad. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the Army, he married Nancy Jean McPherson (later divorced) and in 1973, married Ruth Stewart Rainsdon. After his retirement from the Union Pacific Railroad as a dedicated and valued employee, Bob returned to Albion to enjoy 27 of his 30 remaining years. He had many lifelong friends, both from Albion and the railroad years. Dad loved history and was a civil war expert. He served as president of the Albion Museum for many years. He was always willing to share his knowledge of Cassia county history at the Albion reunions. Bob added an interesting and humorous side to the local history. He was an enthusiastic traveler, an excellent telegrapher and willing to share a lively conversation. He loved people and could spin a good tale with the best. He is survived by children, Jerry Price (Sydney) of Fairfax, Va., Bob Price (Shannon) of Draper, Utah, Dixie Talbot (Mark) of Riverton, Utah and Robert Raindson (Bonita) of Delta, Utah; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Nelson, Jolie Price, Brook Talbot, Jay Price, Dustin Price, Jordan Kunz, Erin Price; and 13 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; and his brother, Jay Howard Price. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 27, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Burial will follow in the Albion Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.
