Raymond Eugene Gladfelder

BURLEY – Raymond Eugene Gladfelder, a 77-year-old Burley resident, passed away from heart failure on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley.

Ray was born August 9, 1941, to Russell and Viola Fern Gladfelder, in Mercer Township, Missouri. He was the oldest of three sons. At a very young age, Ray married Carolyn Goldsby; from this marriage he was gifted with his first son, Jack (Laurie) Miller of Quincy, Illinois. Ray married Lana Rose Koepnick in 1962, and they were gifted with four more children, Carol (Russ) Poole of Rupert, Idaho; Dilliene Gladfelder of Burley, Idaho; Richard (Shellie) Gladfelder and Rodney (Shaunna) Gladfelder, both of Smithfield, Utah. They divorced in 1978 and remarried in 2016. To Ray and Lana’s latest union they shared a beloved bulldog puppy, Jaggar Ricky Dean. During their time apart, Ray was married to Ann Crable Wilson until her death in 2010. To this union, Ray was blessed to be the stepfather of Georgia (Bruce) Pond of East Moline, Illinois.

For many years Ray and Ann owned and operated Ann’s Upholstery in East Moline. Ray was a cement finisher by trade. If you have ever been in a mall, most notably the Mall of America, there is a chance that you have walked on a floor that he has finished.

He loved spending quality family time with his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids. He had a passion for fishing, but he most loved fishing for catfish. He would drive all the way back to Illinois for his bait that he brought home to mix up in his secret concoction. He was famous for his many baits and was careful not to share his secrets. It was nothing for him to catch over 60 catfish in one outing, and he would swear that it was due to his bait! Ray was an avid Harley owner and rider for the past 30 years, logging countless miles and hours on his beloved bikes. He was known for jumping in his truck and heading across country at the drop of a hat, any time, day or night. A prankster, Ray loved a good joke and perpetrated many on the people he loved. When stopping by to visit, you could always count on Ray to have hot coffee and cookies ready whatever the time of day.

Ray was preceded in death by his Mom and Dad; brother, Larry; wife, Ann; granddaughter, Raysha; and nephew, Chuck.

Ray is survived by the love of his life, Lana; brother, Charles; his children, Jack, Carol, Dilliene, Richard, Rodney, and Georgia; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and his much loved furkid, Jaggar Ricky Dean.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where viewing will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

After the interment, a luncheon for family and friends will be provided at the Declo Fire Station, located at 8 North Clark St., in Declo, Idaho.
