Otis Owen Edwards

MALTA – Otis Owen Edwards, died in his home in Malta, on Friday, April 20, 2012, at the age of 92.

Otis was born to Gordon and Nina Sorenson Edwards in Almo Idaho, on Jan 22, 1920. The second oldest of eight children, Rex (Faye) Edwards, Norma (Stan) Zunino, Wanda May (Blaine) Tubbs, Dale (Jeanne) Edwards, Dona (Duane) Skinner, Arlene (Lee) Kimber and Nelda (Olene) Spurgeon.

Otis was preceded in death by his wives, Georgia Judd and Barbara Jane Tolman Edwards; two sons, Calvin and Clifford; two brothers, Rex and Dale; and two sisters, Norma and Dona.

His surviving children include, Verda Kay (Sam) Brady, Karen (Dale) Larson, Gordon (Marcile) Edwards, Paul (Karen) Edwards, and Carolyn (Chris) Allen.

Otis would have remained a cowboy all his life if things would have gone the way he wanted, but life, responsibility, and family drew him to a long and enjoyable career with Raft River Electric. He enjoyed all the many friends he and Barbara made there and retired after 25 years. Otis enjoyed watching Gordon show his mule, Holly, at the area mule shows after retirement until Barbara’s illness forced them to move to Pocatello. Otis could be seen walking around the mall and was easily recognized by that brisk walk and swinging arms. Otis didn’t much like city living but stayed busy helping Calvin and Carolyn in their businesses as he could. Otis was grateful to spend his last 2 ½ years being cared for by Paul and Karen in his home in Malta.

Otis leaves a passel of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he loved so very, very much.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Malta LDS Church, with Bishop Brad Hutchison officiating.

Burial will be in the Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery in Almo. Friends may call from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home in Burley.
