ALBION – Lois Hansen Hatt, formerly of Albion, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Juniper, Idaho, at the age of 89.
She was born May 16, 1923, in Clawson, Idaho, the daughter of David and Adeline (Anderson) Hansen and shared many happy memories of growing up in the beautiful Teton Valley. She married William Clarence Hatt on Sept. 30, 1942, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They enjoyed many years of their married life in Burley, Idaho, where they raised their eight children. 1975 brought them to live in another scenic mountain valley, Albion, Idaho, which quickly became “home”. Lois was on the Albion Library Committee, as well as helping to operate the library. She and Clarence spent many hours helping to remodel an old campus dormitory into the new library.
Lois belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings, but she especially enjoyed being a visiting teacher. Lois and Clarence served a mission as officiators in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.
She enjoyed reading, working in her flower gardens, ceramics and various hand crafts. She spent hundreds of hours providing each of her children with a generous trousseau which included beautiful quilts, embroidered pillowcases, scarfs and dishtowels, and an afghan. She also crocheted an afghan for each of her grandchildren.
Lois loved her family and friends and always enjoyed the opportunity to be with and to serve them.
She is survived by four daughters, Drinda (Albert) Creekmore of Thompson Falls, Mont., Patty (Blaine) Jeffs of Meridian, Idaho, Debbie (Frank) Tunstall of West Valley City, Utah, and Kammy (Juel) Hurst of Juniper, Idaho; a son, Dean (Tammy) Hatt of Orem, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Joan (David) Hatt of Orem, Utah; a son-in-law, Gary (Linda) Lee of Iowa City, Iowa; one brother, Jack (Laverta) Hansen of Driggs, Idaho; one sister-in-law Ivy (Frank) Hansen of Tetonia, 36 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clarence Hatt; three children, Leslie C. Hatt, David L. Hatt, and Karen Hatt Lee; one granddaughter; her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the Burley LDS 2nd and 4th Ward Church, 515 E. 16th St., in Burley, with Bishop Randy Brackenbury of the Albion Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Friday at the church.
