Lidia Allen

March 10, 1944 - September 23, 2017

MINIDOKA - Lidia Illene Allen, 73, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Rosetta Assisted Living Facility in Burley, Idaho after an extended battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Lidia was born March 10, 1944, in Rupert, Idaho, to John Trevino and Grace Helen Bartschi. In 1961, she married Richard M. Allen and soon after bore a daughter in 1962 and son in 1965. Together, they made their first home in Rupert, and later moved to a farm East of Minidoka, known as "Mainline Ranch". The family resided there until 1973, when they moved to a small farm near Minidoka. It was there that they resided for the remainder of Lidia and Richard's lives, until February 2017 when Lidia was moved to Rosetta Assisted Living for additional care.

In addition to raising their two children, Lidia was a truck driver during the harvest, a field hand for her husband on the farm, and loving caregiver to every animal that resided on the farm. Lidia had a big heart and would do anything for a friend (especially a furry one) that crossed her path in need. She was a true believer of friendship; her circle of friends would frequently get together to catch up on the many things going on in their lives, celebrate special occasions, and enjoy one another's company -- all while savoring a good meal and a margarita. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say when she would run into someone that she knew, which was often.

Lidia was an avid collector; her knick-knack and antique collection is beyond description. Many are surprised upon entering her home by the diverse displays of the treasures she collected over the years. Her tastes were varied, and although to many it looked like there was no rhyme or reason to the items on display, Lidia loved each and every one of them and could tell you all about them when asked. She did not leave a wall uncovered, or a space unfilled.

Lidia also loved to read, listen to music, watch mysteries, and travel. She would frequently be found enjoying a good book, listening to Neil Diamond as she worked in the kitchen creating one of her delicious meals, or staying up to watch 'Murder She Wrote' after a long day. Although her love of travel was restricted to only a few trips, she was able to enjoy some of Idaho's beauty on a family vacation to Sun Valley & quick day trips to the City of Rocks and other local sites. She also had a couple of opportunities to journey to the east coast to visit family. But, some of her most memorable trips were a cross-country road trip with family, and traveling with her brothers and sister to Spain. While in Spain, she got to see where her family roots came from and visit with relatives in the Basque region.

Lidia is survived by her daughter, Teresa Allen (JR) Trautvetter of Pasco, Washington; her son Steve (Michelle) Allen of Sammamish, Washington; and by two grand-daughters, Shay Allen and Chelsea Trautvetter (Howard) Graber. She is also survived by her six brothers and sisters, Allen (Diane) Trevino, DonnaMae Trevino (Layne) Harper, Norma Trevino (Victor) Claridge, Nancy Trevino, John (Debbi) Trevino, and Richard (Tori) Trevino.

She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Richard.

Lidia and her family would like to thank Dr. Ficklin, the staff at Rosetta Assisted Living, Auburn Crest Hospice, and Harrison Hope Hospice for their excellent care during the final months of her life. We would also like to thank the many family, friends and neighbors who reached out to Lidia and Richard as they dealt with the many obstacles they were faced with.

Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday evening, October 11th, from 7:00-9:00pm at Hansen Mortuary in Rupert, Idaho. A graveside service will be held Thursday morning, October 12th, beginning at 11:00am at the Rupert Cemetery, with Bishop Sam Crane of the Acequia First Ward officiating.

In lieu of flowers; the family requests that donations be made in Lidia Allen's name to the Alzheimer's Association at the below address or at Hansen's Mortuary in Rupert, Idaho.
