Kenneth Eugene Jafek

Kenneth Eugene Jafek passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021 at his home in Malta.

He was born November 18, 1935 to parents John and Thelma Jafek. He was the oldest of 3 siblings: a stillborn baby boy born in 1939, and a brother Dale Jafek of Paul.

He graduated from Eureka High School in May of 1953 and soon after was drafted into the U.S. Army. After basic training he was stationed at Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska. A perfect place for a hunter. He made many lifelong friends during this adventure. After being discharged from the Army he returned home to Oklahoma.

He made a trip to Arizona to see one of his friends who introduced him to his future wife, Dolly Pena. After a short whirlwind romance, they soon married and moved to Hazelton, Idaho to help on his uncle's farm. After a few years they moved to Paul, Idaho where they resided and started raising their 4 children.

In 1972 he landed a job at Simplot Farms in Raft River, Idaho. He started as a farm laborer and quickly moved up the ranks because of his incredible work ethic. He was taught to work hard at a young age. At the age of seven he would ride his horse through the fields delivering water to the workers. He also found his love of hunting at this young age. He loved the outdoors and always wanted to be hunting.

He always wanted to have an outfitting business. In 1982 he started a successful business. War Eagle Outfitters was created. He has guided hunters from all around the world helping them with their dream of hunting trophy mule deer, moose, elk, antelope, bighorn sheep and mountain lion.

He retired from Simplot in 1997. He wasn't content to be retired so he got a job with the United States forest service where he worked 9 more years. He continued his guiding business, and it will continue as his legacy.

He is survived by his wife Dolly Jafek, Malta, 4 children, Dirk Jafek, Dan Jafek, Dennis Jafek and Dianne (Blair) Davis. 11 grandchildren and soon to be 11 great grandchildren.

Private family services will be held.
