BURLEY - On February 1, 2021, James Harrington Hicks Jr., loving son and brother, passed away and went home to be with his Lord. James was 45-years-old.
He was born April 27, 1975, in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was the first child and the only son of James and Patricia Kenner Hicks.
From the beginning as a child he was very intelligent and curious. He loved learning how things worked, taking things apart and putting them back together sometimes with his own modifications. By age four he had taught himself to read and could read at a second-grade level. Reading was a passion he kept his whole life, he was always an avid reader. James excelled at learning and skipped from kindergarten to the second grade. He had an incredible imagination and was always writing stories and creating things.
Later, after he graduated high school, he moved to Park City, Utah, for several years before moving back to Burley, which again became his home. He was his happiest here surrounded by family and his nieces and nephews. Over the years he worked for Jacksons, Perkins, Smith’s, Walmart, Dutchman’s, Ida Pro, and most recently World Wide Foods.
He always had a passion for art and he excelled at it. He combined two of his favorite hobbies, art and comics and made extraordinary art. Not just admired by friends and family, but some of which was even published from a contest he entered. He loved building and painting models, and he also loved RP games. His creations and detailed painted figures won prizes in the Cassia County Fair every year he entered.
He also loved building and painting bicycles. He had several custom Schwinn’s and some custom low-rider bikes he made and put together himself. He also custom painted these and entered them in shows. He was an avid music and cinema lover and collected memorabilia of both. He had a quick wit, an infectious smile, and was very loved by all those in his life.
He was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandfathers; and his paternal grandmother Mary Catherine.
He is survived by his parents, James and Patricia Hicks of Burley; his sisters, Jacque (Matt) Jones of Heyburn, and Jamie (Jesse) Rebollozo of Burley; his grandma, Mary Kenner; many aunts and uncles; his six nieces and nephews, Kaitlan, Gabriel, Zachary, Brianna, Emily, and Destiny; numerous cousins; and many others who all held a special place in his heart.
