Forrest E McCarty Jr.

Forrest E McCarty Jr. was born June 1, 1927, in Kansas. At the age of 6 his family moved to Idaho because of the dust in 1945 WW2 was ending and he was drafted into the army where he served two years.

When he got out of the army there was no work, so dad enlisted in the navy where he spent 4 years. Dad served on The Haven hospital ship and also served on a reclaimer ship during the Korean war. Dad didn't talk much about being in the war but he would speak of his time in Korea and Japan. He always said he liked the now because he had a clean bed at night. Mom and dad lived in Burley for a short time before buying the house in Paul where they lived and where dad died on December 22, 2021. As kids we remember moving to the house on the highway. Dad and mom worked many evenings and weekends remodeling and fixing up the home and outbuildings. Dad raised cows, sheep, hogs, and chickens on the acreage. He enjoyed raising ewes and lambs mostly.

Forrest worked at Feeders Grain Supply for many years; He and mom owned a Conoco station in Burley for a few years.
