BURLEY – Donald Austin Hawkes, a 94-year-old, longtime Paul resident, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at his home in Paul.
Donald was born July 23, 1925, in Adrian, Missouri, to Madeliene Rexroad and Cyril Hawkes. They later moved to Idaho and settled on a farm north of Paul where Donald grew up tending the animals and helping in the fields. After his parents passing, Donald relocated into town to be cared for by his aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and James Ellis. In 1989, Donald joined his forever family with Randy and Karry Head and their two children, RoweDean and Jacob.
Donald had a love for life and his Schwinn bicycles. He could always be found riding around the streets of Paul with his best friend, David. Donald found joy in everything he did and he brightened the days of everyone he came across with his smile and laughter. While attending school at MDC, Donald made many lifelong friends and memories that will never be forgotten. He was such a sweet and loving soul that made a huge impact on everyone that he met.
A viewing will be held for friends and family from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, with graveside services immediately following at the Paul Cemetery.
