BURLEY – Claude Bryant, a 95-year-old Burley resident, died Thursday, July 12, 2018, at his home in Burley.
Claude was born in the backwoods of Missouri, in the small town of Bennett Springs. A true hillbilly, he died doing what he loved best – harassing his beautiful wife of almost 73 years, Ella, by loudly playing his old country music! All the while napping in his recliner.
Over many years of life, Claude has worn many hats. As a young man, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and followed the Railroad to Idaho. In Idaho he became a farmhand and neighbor to Ella Dean and her family. With them, he had finally found a home and a forever family. He worked as a farmer, a union president at the JR Simplot Co., a well driller, and a coffee shop specialist.
He taught his grandchildren how to drive by age five; and he also let them put curlers in his hair. He loved to collect cars and pens. He would pass out pens he had collected to all the little ones.
Claude is survived by his wife, Ella; his sons, John (Ross), and Jim; his daughter, Paula (Gerald) Egan; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Joey Bryant; five brothers; and three sisters.
Don’t worry Pa; Zyn, Zax, Theron & Jess will take care of Grams for you!
At Claude’s request, no formal services will be held.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
