ALMO - Buddy Doyle Ward left this world on Monday, July 19, 2015, at the age of 84. He was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and his beloved wife, Marion, of 64 years.
He was born February 16, 1931, to Asael and Alice Ward, and was the youngest of eight children. Buddy graduated from Albion High School and went on to attend Utah State University. He married his sweetheart, Marion Barnes, on March 5, 1951, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple; and left soon thereafter to serve in the Korean War. Upon returning home, he purchased a farm in Malta, Idaho, where he began his lifelong career of ranching, raising cattle, horses and working the land. He lived in Malta for 27 years and then moved to Almo, Idaho, where he continued ranching.
In 1998, he and Marion served a mission in Arizona to the Navajo Indians and again in 2001 to the Lakota Sioux Indians of South Dakota, where he grew to love the Indian people. He also served in the Logan Utah LDS Temple for four years as a temple ordinance worker. Raising his eight children and teaching them to love the Lord and to work hard was his life's most important ambition.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Marion; five daughters and three sons; Rosetta (Gerry) Whiting, of Elk Ridge, Utah, Juanita (Gary) Jones, of Almo, Idaho, Connie (Bob) Price, of Syracuse, Utah, Doug (Julie) Ward, of Burley, Idaho, Marshall (Lucelle) Ward, of Abilene, Texas, Tammy (Brent) Jones, of Almo, Idaho, and Angie (Cory) Nilson, of Tremonton, Utah; and Westen Ward, of Almo, Idaho. Upon his passing, he had 29 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren, whom he loved very much. Buddy has one living sister, Beryl Bodily, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Melba Rogers, Reita Lewis, and Ozzella McFarland; three brothers, Alf Ward, Earl Ward, Searle Ward; and one great-grandson, Kobie Jones.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, at the Almo LDS Church, with Bishop Jason Tracy officiating. Burial will be in the Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, July 26, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday both at the Almo LDS church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
