HEYBURN – Arlene Rosa, our loving Mom, Grandma and Oma, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 20, 2023, after a sudden, unexpected decline in her health. Her loving son, Mark, was at her side.
Arlene was born in Heyburn, Idaho, on December 20, 1938, to Bruce and Vida (Rasmussen) Brower. Arlene was born on Vida’s birthday and enjoyed many joint birthday celebrations with her mom. She attended schools in Heyburn and Rupert, graduating from Minico High School. Arlene married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Rosa, in February 1958, and together they had five children. Arlene and Vernon began their life together in Paul, Idaho. Arlene worked with Vernon’s parents at Foodland Bakery in Rupert for many years and was a very talented cake decorator. She also worked on the farm with her husband, helped with the harvest and drove beet truck often with a child or two on the seat beside her. Arlene was good with numbers and started a career in banking with Bank of Idaho after the family moved to Heyburn in 1970. The most enjoyable part of her job was interacting with and helping customers who came to rely on her for their banking needs. Many refused to let anyone else help them and would wait for her to become available. Arlene went through several bank mergers during her long career, ultimately retiring from Zions Bank.
Arlene was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arlene was always a hard worker. She was dedicated to taking care of her husband for the last few years of his life.
Arlene is survived by her son, Mark (Linda) Rosa; her two daughters, Janet Roe and Karla (Jim) O’Toole; her grandchildren, Adam (Cassandra) Rosa, Zachary (Trista) Rosa, and Jared Roe; and her great-grandchildren, Brayden Rosa, Addisun Rosa, Alyssa Rosa, Kayden Rosa, Lexi Pike, Elena Rosa, Kaizer Roe, Elizabeth Becker, Abigail Becker and Joshua Becker. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; two sons, Mike and Eric; and her granddaughter, Kasie.
The family is grateful for all of the support and assistance that family, friends and the team from Horizon Hospice Care provided, in particular, nurse Amy Coultrin.
A celebration of Arlene’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, at Rasmussen - Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 East 16th Street, in Burley, where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. The interment will take place at Paul Cemetery following the service.
