Allyson Monson

Allyson Nicole Monson was born June 22, 1983 in Boise, Idaho, and taken home from the hospital by her adoptive parents and two siblings. Little did they know what had just happened to their lives! She was sealed to the family after adoption was finalized on October 14, 1983. In June of 1987, she was diagnosed with cancer and a lifelong medical roller coaster ensued. She started kindergarten bald, and quickly became widely known for her feisty and energetic personality. In spite of regular visits to the principal's office, she graduated from Wendell High School in 2001. Her educational pursuits following high school included attaining a CNA license, a cosmetology license from Juan's Beauty School, and a cosmetology teaching certificate from Academy di Firenze. She loved taking care of people, doing hair and teaching. Unfortunately, her health continued to deteriorate; after finally finding relief from pain following five back surgeries, Allyson was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. In November 2018 she had a left ventricular assistance device (LVAD) implanted, which left her feeling better than she had in years, and she returned to finding ways to serve others. Helping Hands and Hearts of Gooding was a favorite volunteer opportunity, and she genuinely enjoyed persuading people to donate. Complications around her LVAD surfaced unexpectedly; within the same week, on August 28, 2020, she suffered a brain hemorrhage following surgery, and succumbed to the years of damage inflicted upon her body. She returned that evening to the arms of her loving fathers.

She is survived by her daughter Keyana Monson and mother Beverly Monson of Wendell, ID; brother Chad (Amber) Monson of Layton, UT; sister Heather (Darren) Lybbert of Valley View, TX; nieces and nephews Sophie, Maura, Adeline and Henry Monson; nieces and nephews Jedadiah, Logan, Kjersta, Bree Ella.and Anders Lybbert; biological daughter Alex Huffstutler of Alabama; and biological parents Nancy Titus and Glen Shook of Mountain Home, ID. Allyson is preceded in death by her father, Merlyn "Bud" Monson, and nephews Kason Lybbert and Nathaniel Monson.
